Our clients in today’s “Story Behind the Sold Sign” wondered the same thing. Their family loved their home in Del Mar, California. Over the years, they tackled several remodeling projects and transformed it into exactly what they needed for their growing family. Our clients took great pride in making it both modern and functional, and it showed!
They really had no intention of selling until… they came across one of our listings in Carmel Valley, San Diego. Equally impeccable, they were immediately drawn to its location, style, and square footage and agreed this was their family’s dream home! 😍
But they couldn’t move forward until they sold their current home first. Impressed with our marketing campaigns for their home of interest, they reached out to me to sell their current home. We met and developed a game plan to both prepare their house for sale and present as strong of an offer as possible.
As it sometimes is in real estate, the season was not on their side. We were entering the holiday season, which historically is the time of year buyers tend to be less active. It didn’t help that mortgage interest rates peaked (as high as 8.2% 😮) which also caused a lull in the house hunting pool of buyers.
Fortunately, our sellers were savvy and patient, and together we focused on the end goal. We got creative and made a few adjustments to refresh the home’s presentation - including room staging - prior to having it re-photographed and re-introduced on the MLS.
Timing and our refresh efforts proved to be successful when our clients received the multiple offers. One buyer specifically had the flexibility of a move-in date that coincided with their move-out timeline. That sealed the deal 👍 It allowed them to stay in their current home a few days after the close of escrow so they could pack and move into the home of their dreams!
